Spox: Rosneft CEO, energy min attend Putin–ExxonMobil CEO meeting
MOSCOW, Mar 10 (PRIME) -- Oil major Rosneft’s CEO Igor Sechin and Energy Minister Alexander Novak attended a meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin with U.S. company ExxonMobil’s CEO Darren Woods on Thursday, Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Friday.
“It was the first meeting with the new head of this largest company. It is true that Sechin was there, and the energy minister was also present. It is explained by the fact that the company is still a very active participant of the Russian market,” he said.
“This company is very large, and it is also a large investor. These facts explain this special attention.”
Woods became ExxonMobil’s CEO in December 2016. Former CEO Rex Tillerson now serves as the U.S. secretary of state.
